My interview with Renee Fleming will go live in the next couple of days. She was a remarkable interviewee - possibly the best I've ever had - and it's a great preview for the production. It sounds like Richard Eyre's return to redirect the production for the first time since it was first shown in 1994 has made a big impact.

How about having an interview with soprano Anja Silja who is about to play the witch for the first time in the ROHs 'Hansel und Gretel'? She's had an extensive career, i can imagine she'd be very interesting to talk to. I don't think she has been at the ROH for a while either.

Hi Dominic

how about DD who is already rehearsing "Hänsel+Gretel" or will start very soon.
She gave her Wigmore Hall debut in the beginning of November (sadly no review ) and her first Lucias at Met were praised in the newspapers.

Hi my suggestion and it might be a bit over-ambitious is to interview Juan Diego Florez. He is just about to open with Mathilde Di Shabran and he is the most exciting tenor today, and the heir to those great Bel Canto legends Alfredo Kraus, and of course Pavarotti.

Since you often write reviews about recitals how about an interview with the pianist ... I am thinking of Julius Drake, Malcolm Martineau, Graham Johnson, Wolfram Rieger (just to list my favorites )

best wishes

José Cura on Peter Grimes

I was interested to read the interview with José Cura:

http://www.musicalcriticism.com/interviews/cura-0908.shtml

Once again, he raises the idea of learning the role of Peter Grimes in England because it's part of our heritage, and clearly he's upset that he's been refused the part on the grounds of English not being his first language. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Dramatically, one would think that the part was right up his street, even if he's a little too Latin-looking ...
