  • Baroque Opera: Monteverdi - Orfeo: La Venexiana/Cavina (Glossa)Chamber: Brahms/Schumann Quintets: Andsnes/Artemis Quartet (Virgin)

  • Choral: Haydn Creation: Gabrieli Consort/McCreesh (archiv) - our review... http://www.musicalcriticism.com/recordings/cd-creation-0308.shtml

  • Concerto: Elgar Violin: Ehnes/Davis (Onyx) http://www.musicalcriticism.com/recordings/cd-ehnes-elgar.htm

  • Contemporary: Harvey - Body Mandala: BBCSSO/Volkov (NMC)

  • DVD: ROH Figaro (Opus Arte) http://www.musicalcriticism.com/recordings/dvd-figaro-0308.shtml

  • Opera: Janacek: The Excursions of Mr. Broucek: BBCSO/Belohlavek (DG)

  • Orchestral: Myaskovsky the 27(!) Symphonies: Svetlanov (Warner)

  • Recital: Maria: Bartoli (Decca) http://www.musicalcriticism.com/recordings/cd-bartoli-maria.htm

  • Recording of the year/Instrumental: Beethoven sonatas vol. 4: Paul Lewis (HM)

Anyone got any comments? Feel anything's missing?

Also, anyone got any thoughts on Stephen Hough's Saint-Saens concertos winning the 'Gold Recording', i.e. the best overal winner in the awards' history?
